M.B. Scully is an author of the fantasy/sci-fi world who has been writing epic stories since the third grade (according to the rather embarrassing folder of terribly cliché stories from her younger years). A native of Lubbock, Texas, she spent her childhood and teen years as a military brat, moving all over the United States.
Although she attended various public and private schools for the first part of her school career, Scully was homeschooled by her amazing mother (along with four siblings) from seventh grade onward. This left her plenty of time to focus more on her writing, although she didn’t get into any serious novel-writing until ninth grade, when she began her first novel, The Demon Purge – Legends of Soluna Book One (formerly titled Legends of Soluna – Hawk’s Story). She has since written two more novels and one children’s story, much to the dismay of her brother/editor/motivator (who thinks Scully takes on far too many writing projects at once – she doesn’t know what he’s talking about and thinks writing five stories at once is perfectly normal).
Despite encouragement from her family to publish The Demon Purge, Scully didn’t do much with her stories, never expecting them to go any farther than the family. Her chance to spread her stories among a larger audience came when she attended the 2013 Dallas-Fort Worth Writer’s Conference, where she won a self-publishing package from the wonderful folks over at Lucky Bat Books (who have since picked up her book with their publishing arm – meaning it’ll be published under their name!).
M.B. Scully’s first book, The Demon Purge, is now available on Amazon, Barnes and Noble, Smashwords, and Kobo, and she now has her sights set on many more publications in the future.
(she’s still writing numerous stories at once, so the actual completion of one might take more nagging from her brother-editor)(there’s M&M’s in it for him if he does)
Hawk, a recently escaped Fire-Wolf slave, is one of the few who believes the stories of a once-free Island of Soluna. But as an outlaw, fearing discovery by demons and his fellow wolves, he barely manages to survive. An encounter with a Water-Wolf, a native of a vanished nation, rekindles his spirit and thrusts him into a quest to free his Island. For more than a century, most wolves have been enslaved by the monstrous overlord, Letorus, and his demon horde. The wolves not trapped are on the run, fugitives in their own land. Even the few remaining rebel groups have given up fighting the demons’ rule and struggle only for survival. Hawk must rise above what he thought possible for a lowly slave and learn to lead in a land overcome with hopelessness. With secrets from the beginning of the war and a mysterious spirit haunting his every step, Hawk will have to travel into the origins of darkness itself to free the Island from the tyrannical rule of Letorus.
